Call for papers

The International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT'2003) is a forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research, results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of information technology. ACIT’2003 will include presentations to contributed papers and state-of-the-art lectures by invited keynote speakers. Tutorials on current issues and panel sessions on the new trends related to software industry in Arab countries could be organized. This conference is considered the official scientific conference for the Colleges of Computer and Information Society (CCIS), stemming from the Association of Arab Universities. The permanent General Secretariat of ACIT is hosted by Zarqa Private University, Jordan.

LOCATION

ACIT'2003 will be hosted by Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport (AAST), located in Alexandria. Egypt is a nation occupying the northeastern corner of Africa, the Sinai Peninsula in adjacent Southwest Asia, and some islands in the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea. Egypt's climate is generally dry, with two seasons: a hot season from May to October and a cool season from November to April. The temperature during the conference is expected to be between 13 to 21 degrees C. Alexandria, the shining pearl of the Mediterranean, and the beacon radiating its culture and heritage to the world at large. It is the second largest city and the main port of Egypt. Alexandria was built by the Greek architect Dinocrates (332 BC) on the site of an old village, Rhakotis, at the orders of Alexander The Great. The city, immortalizing Alexander's name, quickly flourished into a prominent cultural, intellectual, political, and economic metropolis, the remains of which are still evident to this day.  It was the renowned capital of the Ptolemies, with numerous monuments. It was the site of the Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, as well as the Great Library. It was along these shores that history took a tragic turn at the time of Cleopatra, Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Octavian.  Alexandria lays north-west of the Nile delta and stretches along a narrow land strip between the Mediterranean Sea and Lake Mariut (Mareotis). It is linked to Cairo by two major highways and a railroad line. It is one of the most notable summer resorts in the Middle East. In addition to its temperate in winter, its beaches, with white sands and magnificent scenery, stretch for 140 km along the Mediterranean Sea, from Abu Qir, in the east to Al-Alamein and Sidi Abdul Rahman, in the west.
