Call for papers

The International Arab Conference on Information Technology (ACIT'2004) is a forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners to present their latest research, results, ideas, developments, and applications in all areas of information technology. ACIT’2004 will include presentations to contributed papers and state-of-the-art lectures by invited keynote speakers. Tutorials on current issues and panel sessions on the new trends related to information technology and software industry in Arab countries could be organized. This conference is considered the official scientific conference for the Colleges of Computer and Information Society, stemming from the Association of Arab Universities. The permanent General Secretariat of ACIT is hosted by Zarqa Private University, Jordan.

LOCATION
ACIT’2004 will be hosted by Mentouri University of Constantine (UMC), located in Constantine, Algeria. Constantine city is perched on a rock sculpted by Wadi El Rhumel in a natural fortress to a height of 780 m. With about a million inhabitants or more, it is an urban center to strong human concentration, what makes it the third city of the country. The climate of the region is continental, characterized by a heat of 25 to 48°C in summer and a cold weather of -6 to 12 °C in winter. It is practically the capital of the Algerian East and the city of the sciences because of the role of its two universities, Mentouri in the liberal arts and technology and Emir Abdelkader in the religious sciences. Mentouri University, founded in 1969, is considered today as one of the biggest African and Arabian universities. It enjoys a modern architecture turned toward the future. It is built according to the plans of the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Fore more information, you can visit www.umc.edu.dz or www.asd-kholladi.com.

    SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
Researchers should submit 3 copies of a full paper describing their work, maximum of 8 single-spaced double column pages that also include illustrations. Papers are to be numbered starting from page one. The first page should include the paper title, researchers’ names, affiliation, postal address, phone number(s), fax number(s), e-mail(s), a brief abstract, a set of keywords, and text. The abstract should be concise and not longer than 250 words. Immediately following the abstract, no more than six keywords are to be supplied for subject indexing. Keywords should not simply be taken from the title of the paper, but should be representative of the content of the whole paper and characteristic of the terminology used within the particular field of study. The introduction of the paper must be clearly written and should explain the nature of the problem, previous work, purpose and the contribution of the paper. The introduction is assigned number “1”, and following sections are assigned numbers as needed. A conclusion section must be included and should indicate clearly the advantages, limitations, and possible applications. Researchers are recommended to specify the topic of the paper in a cover letter based on the list of topics provided above. Electronic submission of papers as Microsoft’s Word document via e-mail directly to the program chair is recommended. A final preparation format is available in the conference web site at www.acit2k.org. Be sure to use MS Explorer. Before final acceptance, all referees comments must be considered. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

    EVALUATION PROCESS
The evaluation of submitted papers is based on the importance and usefulness of the research topic. Technical merits, novelty of the approach, soundness of results, and clarity of presentation are also considered as factors of the evaluation process. Each article will be fully refereed by a minimum of two specialized referees.
