Abstract: This paper presents the study of control and management of technological processes in coal mines through means for displaying information. Information flow in the analysed closed systems consists of production process in an Underground Coal Mine (UCM), Computer System (CS), Display Units (DUs), Operators (Os) and control devices. The mathematical model is applied for describing information filtering, where corresponding filtering coefficients define information flows. The framework for the O-computer dialogue presents the basic principles of the dialogue between the O and means for displaying information. It defines the amount of information displayed, dialogue characteristics, dialogue processes and the mathematical model that describes information flow.

Keywords: Control centre, control panel, information filtering, O-computer dialogue, ergonomic design.
